AnOddBox - The Wheel of Progress…
Oh that massive wheel how it spins with the determination to move the world... The appearance of millions aside millions of small feet pressing with the speed of progress to achieve a horizon of majestic destiny… It is a scene of awe… And as I sit back I ask,, “Mouse... Where the hell are you going…?”
I read an article the other day of the disparagement of the Millennial generation. What a bunch of lazy freeloaders pleading, “But I’m a winner…!” It cynically reminders me of the joke about us Gen-Xers who cried about our multiple X-girlfriends, X-wives, X-husbands, X-jobs, X-cetera… etc… And hey…! What about our Baby-boomer parents…? Woodstock junkies procreating like rabbit to the rally cry of, “Peace and Free-love…!” And then there is our grandparents… The Silent generation as the poverty stricken peasants of the Great Depression…! But do not feel bad Grandma and Grandpa… Because the post-Millennials… The Generation Z… They are also known as the Silent generation… The New Silent generation…
I went to the bookstore, of which I do not often do anymore because the books are all so silent. As I am an odd duck I stand before the shelves of hundreds aside hundreds of books attempting to talk Psychology and Self-improvement. A person walks by and my mind focuses of this individual. How many of these books will I find you in…? More likely than not I would find you in all of them…
I rarely go to the fiction books as their silence is deafening… Neither do I go to religion, for their silence heightens the tinnitus scream in my left ear… As none of the books scream to me, or even offer a whisper, I walk to Biographies… Again my mind asks of the passerby: How many of these books will I find you in…? Perhaps none with your name… Perhaps all, for they are all the same…
The ground is there to provide for growth and change. When will we see that the spin of our wheel does not touch the ground…? When will we see that we are going nowhere…? When will we see that our stories have become silent as we over and over again say… and do… the same things…?
