Trudy M. Johnson, M.A.,M.F.T.
Trudy M. Johnson, M.A., LMFT completed her Bachelor’s and her Master’s degree in Biblical Counseling from Trinity Seminary. In addition, she completed a post-graduate certificate in marriage and family therapy from Denver Family Therapy Institute and has been a Licensed marriage and Family Therapist with the State of Colorado since 2006. As part of her grief counseling work, she has a certificate in chaplaincy.
Trudy was employed for 11-1/2years at Focus on the Family, serving the last eight of those years in the Pregnancy Resource Ministry counseling women and men suffering from the aftermath of their abortion choice and other pregnancy-related topics.
She enjoys reaching out to women and men suffering from many issues such as depression, abuse, anger and loss and worked as a clinical therapist at Crossroads Counseling of the Rockies in Buena Vista, CO for six years.
In 2011, she founded A’nesis Retreats and Counseling Sabbaticals at Sanctuary, a Christian Retreat Center at the foot of Mount Princeton in Colorado. (www.anesisretreats.com)
Author of the first post-abortion counseling curriculum for pastors and lay leaders, she teaches post-abortion counseling at Master’s Divinity School in Evansville, Indiana as an adjunct professor. Additionally she has authored the first curriculum on post-abortion counseling for professional therapists.
In 2011, she presented abortion grief as a topic in a Learning Institute for American Counseling Association, a secular organization of over 50,000 professional therapists. Her article on abortion grief was printed in the American Counseling Journal in January 2012. To her knowledge, this is the first time the subject of grief after abortion has been allowed in the realm of professional counseling.
In 2013, Trudy completed her Master’s Level of training in Christian, Mind-Body work for release of trauma .
