Bio

Leigh Falls Holman has been a mental health professional for over 25 years, a licensed school counselor for 15 years, and a counselor educator for over a decade. She has worked extensively in a variety of settings with victims of abuse, and those who have addictions and offending behaviors. Her specialization is focused on trauma, addictions, and offenders. She authored a textbook on Forensic Mental Health Counseling drawing from her clinical work and research with these populations.

Dr. Holman has published over 20 peer-reviewed articles and has over 80 refereed presentations on topics related to trauma and addiction/offender populations, counselor job stress/burnout, and application of neurosequential interventions (including experiential) in clinical and school settings. She has served on the editorial boards for the Journal of Addiction and Offender Counseling, the Journal of Mental Health Counseling, and Counseling and Values, as well as serving as the Associate Editor of Theory and Practice for the Journal of Mental Health Counseling for 3 years.

She is in her second term as a ACA Governing Council Member. She has served as a member of ACA's Anti-Racism Taskforce, the GC liaison to the ACA Ethics Committee, and as a member of the Promoting Mental Health and Averting Addiction Taskforce. Dr. Holman has served on the board of the International Association of Addiction and Offender Counselors in various positions, including President. IAAOC recognized Dr. Holman as the Outstanding Professional of the Year for her contributions to the profession. She also serves on the board of the Association for Child and Adolescent Counseling.
