Earlier today I asked the founder of APOPS (Association for Pelvic Organ Prolapse Support), Sherrie Palm, to reconsider using a picture of an atomic bomb to promote her organization and public awareness of pelvic organ prolapse. I cited the continued suffering and displacement of the Marshall Island people, the secret military experimentation on the Marshall Islanders (post-radiation exposure), damage to the environment, and the medical plight of "Atomic Veterans." Her response was such that I will no longer endorse her organization until she discontinues the use of this image and apologizes for her lack of cultural sensitivity.
