I am a core faculty member at Walden University. A majority of my 14 years of clinical experience was spent working with children and adolescents. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Iowa and I'm in private practice in Iowa City. I also maintain my LPCC in the state of Minnesota, and I am a National Certified Counselor, Approved Clinical Supervisor, and a Board Certified Tele-Mental Health Provider.
I have a passion for helping other professionals practice self-care. My research was on finding correlations between coping styles and secondary trauma. In addition to seeing youth, I also work with professionals experiencing impostor syndrome and compassion fatigue.
I'm a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), the Association for Child and Adolescent Counseling (ACAC), Counselors for Social Justice (CSJ), and Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES). I also serve on the editorial board of the Journal of Child and Adolescent Counseling. I am currently serving as the President of the ACA of Iowa.
