Am I an Atheist…?

By Ronald Crampton posted 02-25-2015 06:17 AM

WWJD: What would Jesus do…? Damn…! WDJD: What did Jesus do…? I get so angry with the topic of Jesus and God that I would have to say the emotion is just pure hate…! I want to shake my fists and cry havoc that I was ever taught about Jesus and even more so GOD…! Hell… Every day I wish I could wipe the knowledge of Jesus and God from my brain and just say I am an Atheist…!

So what did you do when you read what I had just said…? Did your hairs raise with condemnation and wrath…? Did your heart leap with a cause for my salvation…? If you are reading this far, I know that you care… But did you see… Did you hear… Did you feel… Did you know… What I actually said…?

I know in the written word it is difficult to observe the four behaviors of communication, but they are there…! Do you see them…?

Collaborative Topic: A parable: A wise man sits by the side of the road deep in meditation. A traveler comes by and stops at the wise man. Master, please tell me what you know… The wise man does not raise his head: I am not Jesus… The traveler sighs and walks on… Again a traveler: Master tell me what you know… Again the wise man: I am not Jesus… Again the traveler sighs and walks on… Again and again it is the same until the sun rises high… Another traveler stops: Will you share with me what you know…? Again the wise man: I am not Jesus…  The traveler: I know… I am… The wise man raises his head and with a smile gestures his hand to the ground by his side… Until the sun sets… They talk…

I encourage you to reply…

Thank you,

Hi Patricia, thanks for your comment. It is refreshing for you to note the difference of agnostic and atheistic, and note the struggle with orthodox. With Character Profiling I have yet to meet an individual who is actually an atheist. I do not believe in a God that most believe. In fact I believe that we will actually not know what it is we believe in, and the answer will not be revealed, until we are ready. I once read about Conversations with God and I found myself asking: How could we talk with a God (whichever claimed) if we cannot have a conversation with another human and more so cannot have a conversation with ourselves. When we learn to hear and speak a word that is more than letters; when we learn the arrogance, and humbleness, of semantics and polysemy; when we learn to collaborate with all the behaviors, we learn to talk to each other: And when we learn to talk to the behaviors that are of our own, we learn to talk to ourselves. Only then, I believe, we will be able to talk to God (whichever claimed). Thanks for hearing... Thanks for sharing... Thank you.

Ronald, I understand the issue, and at times it is certainly easier to not have to worry about any higher powers and be totally accountable to ourselves and nobody else. The fact that you are questioning whether or not there is a God is more agnostic than atheist, as an atheist will deny even the possibility that there could be a God (per my understanding of the two). I have also come to the realization that each and every one of us, no matter of how devout we claim to be, will go through periods of spiritual crisis where we doubt the tenants of God we we were taught (why am I suffering if God loves me? Isn't he powerful enough to take the pain away) or to deny the notion of his existence.
That said, there are many interpretations of God and of Jesus, from the strictly orthodox and conservative Bible literalists to the more progressive who read the Bible texts in context with the bigger story and apply it to the way that the world has evolved. It might be good to find a church/denomination that is fitting in the way you have come to understand the God that might exist and speak to a pastor at a church that matches the way you envision God to be.
