Ubuntu…? Humanities…? Semantics…?

The other day I was engaged in a collaboration with a Sage who is also my brother. In part, we were discussing my discourse, in that I am predominate in Humanities though people drive me crazy…! I have such a passion for Human and what it is to be Human that I must embrace Humans to feel the Vitality (Life energy) of my life and who I am. My problem is finding Humans…

My Sage introduced me to the word Ubuntu, of which I was not familiar with the word. He explained Ubuntu by using the similarity of the Na’vi from the movie Avatar. The Na’vi, as explained, believe that all life is connected and thus have a life need of each other. Take for example when Neytiri kills the animal and prays thanks to the animal for the need to take its breath – Key point here is take its breath… Not its life…!

I am who I am because we are who we are… Of course I had to look it up and you know..., I like Ubuntu…! However, I ran into a snag as I always tend to think too much… As in the example of the Na’vi, there was connective grace with the animals, and trees, and …; but there was not a connective grace with the Sully avatar and the other avatars (initially), and definitely no connective grace with the humanoids. Perhaps in regards to the humanoids it was because they were by zeitgeist… Not Human…!

This is where I use the word Humanities… Where Ubuntu is the connectivity of life; Humanities is the connectivity of Humans… (Key note here: Humans came up with the concept of Ubuntu…) The challenge however, is how do we connect if we do not know what we are connecting with…?

Every vertebrate animal on Earth has a limbic system which means every vertebrate animal is reactive to basic animal instinct. Yes, Human is a vertebrate animal… A Human however, is much more than just a vertebrate animal. No, to have opposable thumbs is not a significant stretch into Human. To speak is also not a significant stretch into Human. And arguably, higher level thinking is a limited, significant stretch into Human. What it is to be Human is the ability to think beyond thinking, beyond acquisition of knowledge, beyond cognition – It is Meta-Cognition…!

Meta-Cognition is a genetic uniqueness reserved only for humans and it is an infinitesimally massive uniqueness…! We use Meta-Cognition every day, but we are obviously oblivious to what this means and we are doing… And thus oblivious to being Human… Yes, there are billions of Humanoid animals walking on the surface of the Earth appearing human-like. Humanoid however, is not Human.

Humanities is embracing what it is to be Human… And embracing Humans…

Collaborative Topic: Where are the Humans…?

I encourage you to reply…
