Hello Members of ACA Connect,

You are invited to participate in a research study exploring experiences of recruitment, inclusion, and retention of culturally diverse individuals (e.g., international students, African Americans, Caucasians, etc.) in counseling programs at university campuses in the United States.

Participants will be asked to complete one online survey; the estimated time frame of your participation is no more than 30 minutes.

Participants should be:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • in a counseling program enrolled as either a counselor-in-training or counselor educator
    • must have completed one full semester in the program

If you do not meet the description above, you are not able to be in the study.

You can access the survey at:

https://pennstate.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_4Hmeh596Cn4lXmZ

This study is strictly confidential. Interested participants will consent to filing out a survey. The survey will have no identifiable information attached and be only reviewed by a member of the research team.

Your opinion can add value to the unique experiences of both diverse counselors-in-training and counselor educators in counseling programs. Please note that participation is voluntary and you will not receive compensation for participating.  By clicking the link above, you will be taken to the informed consent and then begin the survey.

The Pennsylvania State University’s Institute Review Board has approved the research study (IRB #00010555).

If at any time you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the lead researchers, Kellie Forziat Pytel, Angélica Galván, and Carlos Zalaquett (advisor) at ces-research@psu.edu.

We appreciate your time and consideration to volunteer as a participant in this study.

Sincerely,

Kellie Forziat Pytel, MS, NCC

Angélica Galván, MA, NCC
